Yard waste
Dumpster for yard waste and landscaping
Clearing bush honeysuckle from a fence line, taking down a dead tree or redoing beds can produce more brush than the weekly cart will ever move.

When the curbside cart isn't enough
With Metro service, yard waste goes out weekly on recycling day, and collection pauses in winter. Curbside limbs have to be cut to four feet, no thicker than two inches, and tied in bundles of 60 pounds or less. Trunks, stumps and a winter's worth of storm limbs don't fit those rules.
Small cities run their own yard waste service with their own limits, so check yours.
Choosing a size
Brush and leaves
Light and springy. A 15 or 20-yard container suits a fence-line clearing; cut long branches so they lie flat.
Logs, stumps and sod
Dense and heavy. Use a smaller container, and ask whether stumps or soil count as yard waste for that company.
Yard waste questions
Can I put the stone edging and old mulch in too?
Stone, soil and mulch are heavy fill, not brush. They belong in a separate load; see concrete, dirt and brick.
Will a container hurt my lawn?
A loaded roll-off is heavy and sinks into soft ground. Keep it on the driveway or another hard surface when you can.
Book the container while it's on your mind
Say what you're clearing out, where the dumpster can sit and which day suits you. By the end of the conversation you'll know the container, the delivery morning and what you'd pay.
