Size chooser
Choosing a dumpster size
Too small and you're paying for a second haul. Too big and you're paying for air. Three quick questions settle most jobs.
Phone hours: Monday–Saturday 8am–8pm, Sunday 8am–1pm ET

Three questions
How big is the pile?
Picture it heaped in a full-size pickup bed. Count the truckloads, then compare with the sizes guide.
How heavy is it?
Furniture and boxes are light. Shingles, tile, plaster, concrete and soil are heavy, and weight wins.
Where will it sit?
A narrow driveway, low wires or a tight alley can rule out the longest containers.
Between two sizes?
Light, bulky debris
Go up a size. A second haul usually costs more than the difference between the two containers.
Heavy debris
Stay small. A bigger box tempts you to overload it, and the weight allowance doesn't grow as fast as the space does.
Louisville jobs, roughly sized
- Clearing a basement in a Highlands house
- 15-yard, more if the furniture is big.
- Gutting a one-bath shotgun's bathroom
- 10-yard; the tile is heavy.
- A single-layer roof on a ranch house
- 15 or 20-yard, set by the company from the roof size.
- Clearing a fence line of honeysuckle
- 20-yard, kept to brush only.
- Moving out of a three-bedroom house
- 20 or 30-yard, depending on the garage and attic.
Let the company check your guess
Describe the job in plain terms: rooms, layers, the size of the pile. The company does this every day and will tell you if your guess is off. Dimensions for each size are in the sizes guide.
Book the container while it's on your mind
Say what you're clearing out, where the dumpster can sit and which day suits you. By the end of the conversation you'll know the container, the delivery morning and what you'd pay.
