What Shively's ordinance asks
A permit for every container
Required in all zoning districts under the city's storage and dumpster ordinance. There's no fee if the container is on site less than 72 hours.
Signed by the owner or occupant
With contact details for the rental company and a drawing of where the container will sit.
Posted where it can be seen
The permit is displayed on the outside of the container, visible from the nearest street.
Good for 30 days
Extensions for cause come in 30-day steps, up to 90 days in all.
Where it should sit
Where possible, the city wants the container behind the rear wall of the house, on a hard surface, at least 10 feet from any property line. Measure that spot before you call, and tell the company about gates, fences or a narrow drive the truck has to pass.
Nothing hazardous may go in, and anything possibly hazardous has to be disclosed on the application.
