When people rent one
Parties and family events
Derby parties, graduations, reunions and backyard weddings, where guests shouldn't be walking through the house.
Renovations at home
A bathroom remodel in a one-bath house, or a long project where the water is off for days.
Where to set it
- On flat, solid ground within reach of the delivery truck, which usually means near the driveway.
- Well away from the buffet and the bar, with the breeze blowing from the seating toward the unit.
- Lit after dark, or close to a porch light, for an evening party.
- Clear of the septic area and of underground sprinkler heads.
What to ask the company
How many units suit your guest count and the length of the party, whether a handwashing station is included, and whether an accessible unit is available for older or disabled guests.
For a remodel that runs for weeks, ask how often the unit is serviced and pumped.
Line up the unit before the guests arrive
Say how many guests are coming, or how long the bathroom will be out, and where the unit can stand. The company quotes the units, the delivery and the price on the call.
